EnerSys Advanced Systems is a part of EnerSys, which is engaged in the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of industrial batteries, such as reserve power or motive power batteries. EnerSys reserve power products are used primarily for backup power applications, such as telecommunications and uninterruptible power systems and specialty power applications, including security systems. The parent company s reserve products are also used for starting, lighting and ignition applications; for switchgear and electrical control systems used in electric utilities and energy pipelines; and for commercial and military aircraft, submarines and tactical military vehicles. In addition, EnerSys motive power products are used to provide power for electric material handling equipment and industrial forklift trucks. The parent company also manufactures and sells direct current-related power products, including chargers, electronic power equipment and various battery accessories. EnerSys offers reserve power batteries under several brand names that include PowerSafe, DataSafe, Hawker, Genesis, Odyssey, Varta and Cyclon. The parent company markets and sells its products in approximately 100 countries through a network of distributors, independent representatives and an internal sales force primarily in Europe, the America and Asia. EnerSys was founded in 1999 and was formerly known as Yuasa.
