After a fire tore through St. Luke's U.C.C. of Belfast in 2000, only a few water-logged and soot-covered paintings and religious articles could be salvaged. One of those items was a mural of Jesus Christ, which currently hangs above the alter at the rebuilt church on Belfast Road, just two blocks from route 33.
A decade later, the church has approximately 225 congregation members and features a picnic pavilion for events directly across the street.
