Dr. Ayazi specializes in esophageal and gastric surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery with advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery and advanced endoscopy. A nationally renowned expert in esophageal motility disorders, Dr. Ayazi frequently speaks on topics related to esophageal disease and its surgical treatment. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive esophageal surgery and management of diseases of the esophagus and stomach, including gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, difficulty swallowing, achalasia, gastroparesis, and esophageal cancer. Dr. Ayazi is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality, surgical care in partnership with his patients. Dr. Ayazi completed his internship and residency in surgery at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. He then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and advanced endoscopy at the Esophageal and Lung Institute, AHN, in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, he completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in Thoracic and Foregut Surgery at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is member of American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and many other surgical societies. In addition to his clinical practice, he is the director of clinical research at Esophageal and Lung Institute. His research is focused on the understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of diseases of the esophagus and their surgical correction. His studies have resulted in more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 90 presentations in the national and international surgical meetings.
