RAIL TRANSIT CONSULTANTS, INC Rail Transit Consultants, Inc ( RTC ) was incorporated in January of 1986 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The firm provides high quality engineering services to the rail transit industry. We are located in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania metropolitan area, with local access to several major transit equipment suppliers. RTC is an organization of highly qualified professionals, with many years of experience, covering a broad spectrum of advanced- technology disciplines. The members of the firm have extensive experience in rail transit vehicle and wayside signaling / train control technology that includes equipment invention, design, documentation, application, testing, analytical and finite element analysis. Our most recent assignments include system engineering for the new Dallas Area Rapid Transit Light Rail Vehicle ( DART LRV ), the Greater Cairo ( Egypt ) Metro Line No. 2, the LRV's for New Jersey Transit's new Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Transit System and Newark ( N.J. ) City Subway, for Kinkisharyo ( USA ) Inc., and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's new LRVs Kinkisharyo International, L.L.C We performed the site management activities at the Transportation Test Center ( TTC ) and vehicle testing of New Jersey Transit's Arrow III cars rebuilt by ABB. We have performed system design engineering, testing, and documentation of the new passenger coaches for the Alaska Railroad, and system engineering / integration, field testing, reliability and safety engineering for Kinki Sharyo LTD. on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's ( MBTA ) Type 7 light rail vehicles. We have conducted performance tests for MBB on commuter cars supplied to MBTA. We have developed test procedures to verify operation of WMATA and Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's signaling equipment furnished by Union Switch and Signal ( US & S ). We have supplied CAD drafting services to draw the train control circuits for Miami and Portland transit systems, and Union Pacific Railroad signaling circuits for US & S. Additionally, we have prepared various reliability, safety, and maintainability analysis for equipment under various transit contracts for Westinghouse Air Brake Company ( WABCO ) and US & S. Our past assignments have included preparation of reliability, maintainability, and safety analyses for the Miami, Baltimore, and Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transit Authorities train control equipment and preparation of maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, test plans, test procedures, and on site testing for Miami's train control equipment as well as Boston's, Dallas', and New Jersey Transit's light rail transit vehicles. Our principals have worked with many of the transit industry suppliers, consulting firms, domestic transit authorities, and on Urban Mass Transit Administration ( UMTA ), now FTA, programs during the course of their careers.
