History
Pete Smyser began performing professionally & teaching while attending Temple University with a full scholarship to study music. For 20+ years, he has enjoyed teaching guitar students at various schools, art centers and music stores. From 2006 to 2015, Pete taught jazz guitar as part of the faculty of Moravian College (Bethlehem, PA). In 2003, Pete renovated an early 19th century barn in Woxall, PA, turning it into a studio for teaching, rehearsing and recording. He currently maintains an active teaching schedule from this home studio. Pete performs approx 170 events each year throughout PA, NJ & DE (these include concerts, clubs, weddings, corporate events, country clubs, retirement communities, restaurants, etc).
Specialties
Guitar Lessons: in person or virtual instruction via Zoom, Facetime, Skype, etc. are offered for beginner through very advanced students age 15 through adult with affordable & flexible scheduling options. Students from 12 to 14 years of age are considered contingent upon a phone conversation with the parent. Styles taught include classical, jazz, fingerstyle, pop, rock, blues, folk, etc. (acoustic or electric). Casual hobbyists and serious, career minded students are equally welcome. Award Winning Live Music Performance - for a concert, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, corporate event, rehearsal dinner, anniversary, birthday or most any indoor event that would benefit from including live music.
