History
Two local owners opened the Erie Once Upon A Child store in May of 1994 after discovering a franchise opportunity in the gently used children's industry. After visiting the Once Upon a Child stores in Pittsburgh they decided that Erie would be a great market for the concept. The initial location was located in Millcreek Square, which they quickly grew out of and moved to the Summit Towne Centre. In 2008, they expanded once again, doubling their store size due to customer demand. With the success of the Once Upon A Child store, they saw a need to extend the life of their customer by opening the Plato's Closet store which focuses on name brand clothing for teens and young adults. The Plato's Closet store is also located in the Summit Towne Centre by Once Upon A Child. The success of both concepts is due to the increasing popularity of recycling but both owners understand that it is because of the dedicated and loyal customers that the store continues to grow.
