East Mount Airy Neighbors is a neighborhood association that works with residents and local organizations in the area to make the community a better place to live. It was founded in 1966 when, according to the organization's website, it became apparent the neighborhood needed a governing body of sorts that would help wade through some of the issues it was dealing with. It has an Advocacy Committee, a Housing and Land Use Committee, a Membership Committee, a Schools Committee and a Special Events Committee, among others. It is governed by a 34 member board, and has an executive director. Its Board of Directors meets once a month (generally on the first Tuesday). The group's offices are located on the campus of the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia.
