American Association for Cancer Research, founded in 1907, is a nonprofit organization offering services to cancer patients in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. It offers assistance in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. It is a scientific organization providing cancer research to various scientists, hospitals and cancer-related organizations. It provides training opportunities to cancer researchers and assists in increasing public understanding of cancer. It publishes five scientific journals, including Cancer Research; Clinical Cancer Research; Molecular Cancer Therapeutics; Molecular Cancer Research; and Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. The organization provides advocacy programs for cancer patients, their families, physicians and scientists. It organizes educational programs for the general public to help those living with cancer. Additionally, it provides various programs, such as international scholar and special program for high school students.
