Located in Mercersburg, Pa., Mercersburg Academy is an independent, co-educational boarding school providing education to students in grades nine through 12. The school was established in 1836, and offers a wide variety of college preparatory courses in various subjects, including art, history, world religions, biology, English, history, science, and classical and modern languages. It offers a wide range of academic and nonacademic classes in the fine and performing arts, such as theater, dance, music, drawing, painting, sculpture and computer-based art. Additionally, it provides various athletic programs, physical education and various career counseling services. It also provides laboratories, art studios, computer facilities, Internet access, and a library and study areas. Under its outdoor education program it offers various confidence and leadership building activities, including climbing, kayaking, canoeing and backpacking. The facilities of the school include the Burgin Center for the Arts, Lenfest Library, Rutledge Hall, Ford Hall, Chapel, Irvine Hall, Health Center, North Cottage, Landis House and Traylor Hall.
