York Newspaper Company has been publishing newspapers for more than 200 years. Of the four newspapers in the group, the York Daily Record and the York Dispatch/Sunday News are among the 13 oldest newspapers in the United States. In 1990, the two newspapers merged their advertising, business, circulation and production departments and the York Newspaper Company was formed. This joint operating agreement means the owners of the York Daily Record and the York Dispatch and Sunday News each own a percentage of the York Newspaper Company. The Daily Record and Dispatch newsrooms are not part of the merger and remain under separate ownership. In fact, York is the smallest community in the United States to have two competing daily newspapers. York Newspaper Company is located in York, Pa.
