Dr. Theodore McCaskey grew up in New Castle, PA, where he graduated from Neshannock High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, where he majored in biology and played four years of football for the Titans. Dr. McCaskey received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1996. He graduated magna cum laude and served as president of his class. He went on to complete two years of orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginias orthodontic residency program. Upon completion of this training, he received his certification to practice orthodontics as a specialist. Professional Affiliations Dr. McCaskey is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, Pennsylvania Association of Orthodontists and the Western Pennsylvania Society of Orthodontists. Also, he is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies and is honored to have become a member of the North Atlantic component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. It is very difficult to attain membership to this society, which was established in the 1950s. Membership is by invitation only and is limited in number. The society is comprised of a small percentage of all the orthodontists in the world. The North Atlantic component includes members from not only the United States, but also from Europe, Australia, and Asia. Dr. McCaskeys other professional memberships are with the Medical College of Virginias Education and Research Foundation and with the American Association of Orthodontists. In the Community Dr. McCaskeys career path was different from that of many orthodontists. Prior to going to dental school, Dr. McCaskey was a teacher, coach, and youth camp director. He values the time he had working with young people in all these capacities and recognizes that those experiences have benefited him in his orthodontic practice. The field trips that Dr. McCaskey offers to elementary school children are educational and are a connection to his teaching background. His main goal is to teach the children that the skills they are learning in school today will be valuable to them in their future careers. Dr. McCaskey wants to reach out to the community through education and also through the YMCA parties to which he invites his patients and their friends. It is a fun time for Dr. McCaskey and the staff, and a way to say thank you to his patients' families. Dr. McCaskey's experiences have shown him the value of giving back to his community. He looks forward to discovering other ways to give back and will continue to enjoy interacting with and learning about his patients' interests and activities.
