Established in 1959, Jefferson Middle School serves students in grades six through eight. It offers regular classes in math, reading, writing and science. The school also offers communication classes in German, Spanish, French and Japanese. Its forensics club offers various opportunities to participate in declamations and extemporaneous presentations. The school s student council promotes school spirit and plans social events, special projects and fundraising activities. The school also offers several intramural athletic programs in volleyball, aerobics, hockey, golf, soccer, softball and basketball. Its library offers a collection of more than 12,000 books and audiovisual materials. Jefferson Middle School has an enrollment of more than 700 students and is located in Pittsburgh.
