Founded in 1907, James V. Brown Library provides free services to more than 1,000 customers each day. The library has more than 50,000 card holders and offers resource sharing and advisory services for over 40 public libraries in north-central Pennsylvania. Its bookmobile provides materials to customers with special needs, including infants, preschoolers and senior citizens. James V. Brown Library s mission is supported by the Friends of the Public Library, which is a nonprofit and all-volunteer organization. It provides materials on census, city, Native American, military, land and state records. In addition, it offers material s on African-American and European genealogy. The library also offers a host of additional services to the local community.
