In April 1684, the first meeting of the Society of Friends took place near Haverford. The meetinghouse on Buick Lane was founded in 1834 and since then, Quaker meetings have been held regularly every Sunday morning. The service is approximately an hour and afterwards, in a gesture of good nature, each one turns to his neighbor and shakes his or her hand. Afterwards, a social gathering convenes in the Forum room, with refreshments and simple meals. All are invited to attend Sunday morning worship. During meeting worship, nursery care and Sunday School are provided for infants and children.
