History
Freedman & Lorry P.C. was founded on March 1, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by Abraham E. Freedman, Esquire and Wilfred Lorry, Esquire. It undertook representation of longshoremen and merchant seaman, quickly earning a reputation as an aggressive and innovative champion of labor, both in employment relations and in compensation for the sick and injured. The firm is responsible for changing maritime law to benefit merchant seamen and longshoremen in Seas Shipping Co. v. Sieracki, 328 U.S. 85. Freedman & Lorry has successfully argued cases in the U.S. Supreme Court as well as other federal and state appellate courts. In the mid-70s the firm's practice expanded to include the representation of labor unions and Taft-Hartley Funds. In addition, the office maintains several legal services plans for union members and their families and a general practice in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, criminal law, bankruptcy, family law, commercial litigation, and disability.
