Founded in 1967, East Shore Area Library houses more than 109,000 volumes of books and journals. The library occupies over 28,500 square feet of space. It is a part of the Dauphin County Library System, which is a private, nonprofit corporation. The system offers a variety of materials for information, educational and recreational purposes. It provides maps, comics, encyclopedias, dictionaries and picture books for children. In addition, the Dauphin County Library System offers job and career information for teenagers. The system organizes various types of events, such as book fairs, author appearances and summer reading programs. It provides interlibrary loans for articles, journals and audiovisual materials. The Dauphin County Library System offers online databases for test preparation and interactive practice examination materials.
