History
EECM began when a small group of local congregations of various denominations noticed that children were going to school hungry. They banded together to begin providing meals for the children, but realized there were problems bigger than that in Pittsburgh's East End. Today, EECM has grown to currently providing 16 different programs (Housing, Hunger and Children & Youth) in 15 locations throughout the East End by receiving support from over 40 participating congregations, corporate and individual donors, and thousands of volunteers that enable us to serve those in need.
Specialties
For over 40 years, East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) has worked to build a community of opportunity in Pittsburgh's East End. Through our Hunger, Housing and Children & Youth Programs which touch over 5,000 lives annually, we seek to help the poor and neglected, the homeless and destitute, the old and the sick, the young who are at risk and those who have none to care for them by providing a hot meal, a safe place to sleep and positive role models.
