The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is a confinement facility for inmates committed to its custody. Based in Camp Hill, Pa., it is responsible for overseeing the operation of 26 state correctional institutions, one motivational boot camp, 14 community corrections centers, nearly 40 contract facilities along with a training academy. The centers collectively house more than 51,000 inmates. It provides rehabilitation opportunities for inmates to acquire the skills and values required to become productive law-abiding citizens. The prison system is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
