Founded in 1999, Compeer Chester County is an international volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that serves individuals dealing with mental health problems. Headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., the organization helps sufferers to gain self-confidence and self-esteem, foster personal growth, and ease fear, loneliness and isolation. It organizes a variety of group activities, including picnics, bowling parties and luncheons. Compeer Chester County provides individualized training and ongoing support to volunteers. The organization is a project of the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania (MHASP) and is supported by the Chester County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Administration. It is located in West Chester, Pa.
