Community Action Partnership of Cambria County, with its office in Johnstown, Pa., is a nonprofit corporation that works with eligible individuals and families to improve their quality of life by offering advocacy, services and support. Established in 1965 as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act, it is one of more than 1,100 similar organizations in the United States and serves more than 14,000 people. Its community services program assists individuals who have a medical access card to get to their medical appointments and addresses the needs of the homeless in the community. It assists people with a housing crisis; helps those whose gas or electric service has been shut off; and provides transportation for the disabled.
