Come to Bower Hill Community Church and BELIEVE! Believe that you are loved by God! Believe that you are called to accomplish great things for God! If you want to be a part of a church where you can believe and be comfortable, this is not the church for you. At BHCC we believe that faith begins with belief, but goes way, way beyond belief. We take seriously our call to be believers AND followers of Jesus Christ. We recognize that following requires us to leave behind what we want in favor of what God wants for us and from us. Following also leads us to consider the needs of our church family and the community around us. Believing and following go hand in hand and as believers and followers, we believe God loves us and calls us to be people who respond to that amazing, overwhelming gift of love by loving God and all people around us. Come to Bower Hill Community Church and BELONG! Belong to a family of faith that shares in one another's joys and reaches out to comfort one another in times of sorrow! Belong to a family that is diverse in its opinions and willing to dialogue about tough issues! If you want to be in a church where everyone agrees with you, this is not the church for you. For just over fifty years, BHCC has challenged its members to see issues from many perspectives. We value questions and believe that there are rarely easy answers to tough issues. We always struggle to be faithful to Christ's call and we know that we struggle best, when we struggle together. Whether we agree or disagree, we believe that God has called us to a common purpose and we boldly claim our identity as sisters and brothers of faith, called together to be a family in Christ. Come to Bower Hill Community Church and BECOME! Become the person that God is calling you to become! Become even more than you thought you could become with the help of God! If you want to be part of a church where you can sit back and be a nominal Christian, then this is not the church for you. We take our call to be active partners with Christ in His redeeming work very seriously. Mission is at the very soul of BHCC. We have struggled to be a radically inclusive place as we have taken on issues of Civil Rights, partnering with an African American Church in the 1950's and stepping forward in Interfaith Ministries by providing a temporary home for the congregation of Temple Emanuel as the temple was being built. At BHCC we continue to expect God to call us to show His radical love in challenging and not-so-obvious places.
