Established in 1889, the Bellevue Police Department provides law enforcement services to residents and safeguards civil rights. It is comprised of more than 10 police officers, civilians and dispatchers. The department s dispatch center responds to calls for police, fire and medical emergency services. The Bellevue Police Department conducts the National Night Out program that assists in crime and drug prevention services through community involvement. It supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program, which focuses on the prevention of illegal usage of drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department also undertakes cases related to identity theft and Internet crime. In addition, the Bellevue Police Department offers Halloween, holiday and children safety tips.
