History
Allison Park Church began with a woman named Arlene, who began praying for a new church to be planted in the North Hills of Pittsburgh in the early 1950s. A small group of ladies wrote to 18 different denominations asking them to consider starting a new church in an old church building that was available on Duncan Ave. At the time, Pastor William Bailey responded to their letter and began holding home Bible studies with these ladies, in the spring of 1966. By fall, services were held on Sundays at the Odd Fellows Lodge. In 1968, William's son, D. Ronald Bailey became Allison Park Church's first senior pastor. He continued as the lead pastor at Allison Park Church until early in 1991, when he resigned to take a new assignment in California. At that time, Jeff Leake had been an associate on the APC staff, and the congregation invited Jeff to officially become the new lead pastor at Allison Park Church. He and his wife Melodie have served in this capacity ever since.
