The West Valley Housing Authority has been providing housing options to the residents of Polk County, Ore., since its first property was built for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities in 1967. Its low-rent public housing program includes a portfolio of more than 370 apartments, town houses and single-family homes throughout Polk County that are owned and operated by the authority. The West Valley Housing Authority, under contract with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, administers a rental assistance program. Its Winners' Circle program includes training on several topics, including money management, goal setting, parenting, housekeeping, relationship building, conflict resolution, and child and health care. The authority s Renters Entering New Tenant (R.E.N.T.) program assists individuals and families who cannot obtain or retain housing due to poor rental and credit histories.
