History
The Athletic Edge started in June of 1996 in Dallas, Oregon when owners Walter and Jacque Wagner sold their wedding rings to secure their first lease. At the time, they did not have any gym equipment but found that many of the local high schools were discontinuing their gymnastics programs and they were able to get the equipment donated. In the heart of Dallas, The Athletic Edge became a youth training center, for not only gymnastics, but for the skills of life as well. Soon after in September of 1997, they relinquished ownership and The Athletic Edge gained status as a not for profit organization. In June of 1998, The Athletic Edge made the move to Salem, Oregon. In January of 2017, we moved into our current location after several years of searching for a space in Salem that could accommodate our drive for expansion. The reason Walt chose the name, The Athletic Edge, instead of including the word gymnastics, is to hopefully expand our organization into so much more.
