We are a small company based in Portland, Oregon. Before Pacific Northwest Wool, we all had normal day jobs. So how did we end up in the retail business? It all started with me looking to replace my four shirts. See, I wear four shirts and four shirts only. Since I only use these four shirts I need them to look good while I'm at work, perform well while I'm out hiking or biking, and generally stand up to years of abuse. A few years ago I purchased some 60/40 cotton/poly Henley shirts that were now falling apart. It was time to replace them. In retrospect, these shirts just didn't fit the bill. I knew I needed something different - I wanted something comfortable, fast drying, and odor/wrinkle/stretch resistant. This lead me to merino wool. Initially, Merino seemed to be perfect material for my four-shirt rotation. But the more I looked into merino, I quickly realized the downsides: it is very expensive and it is very delicate.
