Established in 1931, The Oregon State Police is a department of the Oregon State government responsible for the safety and security of the citizens. Based in Newport, Ore., the department comprises of three bureaus: Intergovernmental Services, Bureau of Investigations and Central Operations Command. Its specialized services include transportation safety, major crime investigations as well as forensic services such as deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) identification, automated fingerprint identification, drug investigation, fish/wildlife enforcement and gambling enforcement. The Oregon State Police further caters to state emergency response coordination and fire marshal services.
