HistoryLocated in the historic White Stag Block in Portland, the Portland Library and Learning Commons (PLLC) is a branch of the University of Oregon Libraries providing learning spaces, collections, research services, and technologies to support the academic programs and research institutes at UO Portland. The library of the former Oregon School of Art and Design was purchased in 1991 to support a collaboration between UO and Portland State University. University of Oregon Portland Center in the Yamhill Historic District's Willamette Block Building was established in 1987. The Portland Architecture Library was created at this location during 1994. The collection grew and in 2001 moved to a new space within the Portland Center until relocating to the White Stag Block in 2008 as the Portland Library and Learning Commons. While the significant architecture collection remains, the collection of over 10,000 books includes a variety of subjects in support of all UO Portland programs.SpecialtiesThe UO Portland Library & Learning Commons, located in the historic White Stag Block in downtown Portland, supports students, faculty and research centers at the University of Oregon's Portland campus. This academic library is open to visiting students and researchers by appointment only. Please email pdxlib@uoregon.edu to schedule an appointment prior to arrival. For general library use, we recommend the nearby Multnomah County Library with both the Central Library and Northwest Branch located nearby. The Portland Library is the former Portland Architecture Library, and we specialize in architecture books and resources.
