During American s Great Depression, Myer A. Bornstein founded Bornstein Seafoods in 1930. The company has seafood processing capabilities and buying stations that stretch from southeast Alaska through Canada, Washington, Oregon and down to Northern California. The company distributes seafood from Dungeness Crab to salmon and other various seafood catches. The Newport, Ore., location is a buying station. Many seafood items bought at the Newport location are troll-caught salmon, albacore tuna, Dungeness Crab and cold-water shrimp. These fresh catches are brought in by area commercial fishermen and sold at market price. Borstein has more than one processing plant.
