On March 4, 1948, the First Methodist Church of El Reno and the Central Methodist Church merged and was known as the First Methodist Church until May 13, 1948 when the name of the merger churches was changed to Wesley United Methodist Church. The history of this great church is both unique and interesting. It shows the dedication of the church members ( past and present ) to make Wesley United Methodist Church the faithful congregation it is today. Even though it began as two separate churches, it now has a united church membership in doing the Lord's work. Our mission is to be a community of Christian believers who strive to heal the hurts of society by sharing God's Word and living our faith through our prayers, presence, gifts and services. With the many talents, skills and capabilities of its members, this church will continue to have a great impact on all people in the name of Jesus Christ.
