Established in 1928, Tulsa Police Department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department operates patrol, investigative and administrative divisions. It arrests offenders and responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It intervenes in cases of theft, robbery, serious assault, sex crime, child abuse, narcotics trafficking and domestic violence. Tulsa Police Department also organizes several safety-related programs for the general public. In addition, the department has a special operations division that operates K-9, bomb squad, fleet management, air support and disaster response units. Its records division processes and manages records, statistical reports, clearance letters, and arrest and search warrants. It conducts investigations, gathers evidence and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. Tulsa Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department maintains a presence in Tulsa, Okla.
