Located in Tulsa, Okla., the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission is a joint city-county cooperative planning commission that was authorized by Oklahoma statutes. It was established in 1953 by the Tulsa City Commission and the Tulsa County Board of Commissioners. The commission serves as a recommending body for various zoning requests initiated within the city limits. The Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission also processes several new subdivision plats and lot splits. It additionally has the responsibility for adopting a range of comprehensive plans for the Tulsa metropolitan area. The commission s plans serve as planning documents to set the development policies for the city.
