History
Operation Aware (OA) of Oklahoma's mission is to improve the lives of youth by providing drug prevention and education programs that equip them to make positive life choices. Operation Aware continues to serve as a comprehensive prevention education resource for development of healthy, strong young people. The program was developed using trend and statistical data, causal factors, and sound medical facts. Further development of the program considered students' ability to comprehend, discuss, and internalize information and accept responsibility for their choices and actions. Since its inception, OA has equipped more than 550,000 young people in a nine-county area with resilience skills and drug education. It has provided a safe forum to ask questions so students could make more informed life-changing decisions. OA serves young people in grades Pre-K through high school at more than 180 schools in a nine-county area in northeast Oklahoma.
