History
McGee Jewelers has been owned and operated by the McGee family since being established before Oklahoma statehood. McGee Jewelers was opened in March of 1907 in the town of Blackwell, Oklahoma Territory by J.M. McGee. J.M. later passed the business on to his sons Robert and Fred McGee who changed the name to McGee Brothers Jewelers. The business remained McGee Brothers when Fred passed the jewelry store down to his sons, Robert and Bill. Robert changed the name in the 1960s back to McGee Jewelers when Bill opened a jewelry store in Norman, Oklahoma. In 1977 McGee Jewelers was moved and opened in historic Downtown Ponca City, Oklahoma. It has remained in the same building since. The store is currently managed by Robert's son Matt who still uses the same displays that were made for his great grandfather's store when it opened in 1907.
