The Oklahoma Insurance Department, also known as OID, is a part of the government of the State of Oklahoma. The department is responsible for the enforcement of the insurance-related laws of the state. It licenses and educates bail bondsmen, funeral home directors, real estate appraisers, and insurance producers and adjusters. The Oklahoma Insurance Department s communications division coordinates speaking opportunities. The department also manages a consumer assistance/claims division that processes and investigates complaints lodged by the public against insurance companies. Its anti-fraud unit investigates and gathers evidence related to administrative disciplinary proceedings. The Oklahoma Insurance Department s financial division oversees the deposits and withdrawals of securities.
