Bartlesville Union Depot is a historic train station located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Built in 1910, the depot serves as a Visitor Information Center and is home to the Santa Fe waycar #999969, a 1948 steam locomotive that is currently undergoing restoration. The project aims to preserve and enhance the depot, attract more visitors to the area, and improve the western gateway to Downtown Bartlesville.
The Santa Fe waycar #999969, originally numbered 2259, was saved from the scrap heap in 1956 and transported to Johnstone Park. In 2009, it was brought back to the Santa Fe Depot, thanks to generous private donors. The restoration project includes repairing rusted metal, replacing windows and doors, repainting the interior and exterior, and installing exhibit panels. With the support of donors, the Bartlesville Union Depot is working towards preserving this piece of railway history and inviting visitors to learn more about Bartlesville's rich heritage.
