Founded in 1868, YWCA Greater Cleveland is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. As the seventh oldest YWCA in the country, it has been continuously operating in Cleveland for over 150 years, providing direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color.
With a focus on challenging structural barriers to equity, YWCA Greater Cleveland serves over 6,700 women at the Norma Herr Women's Center, houses 53 residents at Cogswell Hall, and engages 30,000 participants in the Racial Justice Challenge. The organization's mission for gender equality and racial justice is further supported through initiatives like the Women of Achievement Awards and the empowerment of youth transitioning to stable housing.
