Yoder Lumber Company is a family owned business. John J. Yoder started the company in 1944 with a portable sawmill that he used to saw construction lumber for the local farmers when they wanted to build new buildings. He proceeded from that into buying timber from landowners and sawing furniture grade lumber, railroad ties and construction lumber. In 1956 he established a permanent site near Charm, Ohio, for its mill. The company has three sites all located within 10 miles of each other in Holmes County. Yoder Lumber's specialty is fine quality Appalachian hardwood lumber, red oak, white oak, poplar, cherry, walnut, hard maple, soft maple and several other species. Each year its sawmills produce more than 10.5 million board feet of lumber. Yoder Lumber Company has a location in Millersburg, Ohio.
