Veterans Park has 100 acres of green space and its centerpiece is Granger Pond, the largest inland pond in Lake County. It was founded in 1970 and is Mentor's old neighborhood park.
The park has four piers from which people can fish, and the pond is regularly stocked with catfish, bass, bluegill and rainbow trout.
Visitors can play on the park's baseball field, volleyball court and playground.
Veterans Park also has a pavilion with a fireplace that can be rented by calling Lake Metroparks.
