The Stow Police Department, established in 1957, is a law enforcement agency that prevents loss of lives, injuries and property damage. It also offers services for managing traffic and emergency incidents and protecting public and state assets. The Stow Police Department employs a staff of more than 90 full- and part-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. The department operates a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. It also has a drug task force, crash response team, evidence technicians and community crisis intervention team, as well as the Child Abduction Response Team. The Stow Police Department maintains a youth services bureau that provides alternative rehabilitation for juveniles who are arrested by the local police.
