Stivers School for the Arts, located in Dayton, Ohio, offers programs in music, dance, theater and the visual arts, as well as a full range of academics. The school is one of the few public schools in the Dayton City School District that has been designated as a school offering programs to students in grades seven through 12. Students enter Stivers at the seventh grade level by audition and make a full six-year commitment. They major in arts themes of band, orchestra, choir, piano, dance, creative writing, theater and visual arts. The special features of the arts programs include weekly, individualized instruction; seminars, master classes and opportunities for performance and creative expression. The students are provided instruction through one-on-one contact with many of the community's leading professional and performing artists. The art themes are integrated into the general curriculum.
