The city of Shaker Heights has been around since 1912 and was first owned by the North Union Community. The City Hall building was built in 1930 and is the site of community resources such as city jobs openings, announcements, meetings, city services, business developments and offices of the city government. Within the city of Shaker Heights can be found strong multicultural communities and historic districts. Larchmere is a well-known historic district full of antique shops and consignments stores. Shaker Square has boutiques, beauty salons, fine dining and other retailers.
