Established in 1991, the Piqua Police Department operates under the government of the city of Piqua, Ohio, and is a full-service law enforcement agency that is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The department employs more than 30 sworn officers, civilians, dispatchers and volunteers. It administers a crime stoppers program that is a partnership of community residents, media members and law enforcement units. Crime stoppers provides crime-solving assistance to law enforcement officials. The Piqua Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. The department provides fingerprinting services for children and adults.
