University Laboratory Animal Resources is a learning institute that provides a range of educational and research programs related to animals for individuals. It offers courses on clinical medicine, diagnostic testing, animal handling and technical procedures. The laboratory additionally provides various surgical and training programs that include orientation classes on pharmacy support, surgery preparation and post-operation recovery. It offers graduate programs and courses on veterinary biosciences, clinical science and preventive medicine. The laboratory uses a variety of animals, such as sheep, pigs, dogs and rabbits for surgical models to research on heart failure and wound healing. It operates a more than 100,000-square-foot animal housing space and over 15 facilities to accommodate swine, ruminants and dogs. The laboratory has been approved by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care since 1962. University Laboratory Animal Resources is a part of Ohio State University.
