Ray H. Meyer Company was founded in 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a church goods and religious articles store by brothers-in-law Robert E. Vogelpohl and Ray H. Meyer. In 1951, Robert Vogelpohl added the Altar Bread Agency to bring the excellent wafers of Holland to America. The breads are produced by deaf and hearing-impaired adults at St. Michael's Bakery, a nonprofit organization. In 1976, Robert's son John expanded the company's service into church candles with the creation of the Candle Sales Agency. John Vogelpohl became president of this full-service enterprise in 1982 under the name of MeyerVogelpohl. The founders are both deceased. MeyerVogelpohl's goals are twofold. Historically, the company's endeavors have been rooted in a desire to enrich the Church by offering the highest quality goods and services available. This commitment continues as the cornerstone of MeyerVogelpohl's operations and has earned the company a national reputation for innovative designs, quality merchandise and outstanding customer service.
