Mentor Baptist Church started as an informal gathering of women in 1940. In subsequent years, it grew until it was officially recognized in 1949. Its present church on Johnnycake Ridge Road was built in 1955.
The church has Sunday school at 9:30am followed by a worship service at 10:45am. Members also hold a prayer group every Tuesday at 7pm. It is lead by senior pastor, Brian Landrum.
The church has several international missions it supports. Its members have sent many groups to help its sister church in Kostopil, Ukraine and, in 2007, helped build 20 homes for the needy near Tijuana, Mexico. Mentor Baptist also supports missions in Austria, Colombia, Japan and the Philippines.
