In April of 2001, with much prayer, Jim Dandy's opened on Saturdays in the parking lot of Schmidt's Meats on Winton Road in Finneytown. Our goal was to serve the very best BBQ possible. That is still our goal! During those years and up to present, we developed a loyal following, many of which still come today. In 2003 we went full time as we moved to a concession trailer in Brentwood Plaza, also on Winton Road and again grew our loyal customer base. After that season we opened our business in Sharonville, Ohio at the corner of Sharon and Mosteller Roads. Two great seasons later, and with the help of many of our customers, we opened our first beautiful restaurant at 2343 East Sharon Road. All a direct result of the many answered prayers, supporters, employees, and of course, our wonderful customers. We get many questions about our slogan: Spiced & Smoked NOT Boiled & Soaked, quite frankly it is what makes us different. Early in our BBQ'ing days we used all types of methods and pits. We tried all the methods that might allow us to create great BBQ and make it faster. Invariably we found that wood fired ( using select hardwoods only ), and fresh meat never frozen made the tastiest, juiciest BBQ. We cook with the "low and slow method" every day on site using traditional Southern black iron pits. With Jim Dandy's your food wasn't cooked weeks ago in a "food factory" slathered in artificial smoke and sauce and trucked in to be heated in a microwave. Heck we don't even have one. And that is our recipe today.
