Established in 1959, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission focuses on the enforcement of state laws against discrimination. It receives and investigates charges of discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, credit and higher education on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, ancestry or familial status. The services of the commission include protection against discrimination, mediation, enforcement of the decision taken and promotion of cultural awareness in the state through education and outreach activities.
