Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, located in Chesterland, Ohio, serves children and adults with developmental disabilities, such as mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida and traumatic brain injuries. The center provides services, including early intervention, vocational training, community employment, workshop opportunities and senior programming, residential services, intensive care, on-site housing, as well as community support living homes. It also offers educational services through West Geauga High School. The school provides subjects, such as English, writing, reading and physical education. It additionally offers programs that include social integration, vocational skill development, academic and preacademic skills and transition planning. It also organizes day trips to amusement parks, shopping at local stores and various competitions. The department is a part of the government of Geauga Count, Ohio.
