The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School district operates 13 schools and educates about 6,000 students in the two communities. Additionally, Cleveland Heights High School is divided into five small schools, each with its own principal and teaching and learning model. The district is known for its strong athletic and music programs, as well as its cultural and economic diversity. Seventy-six percent of the student population is black, 18 percent white, 5 percent multi-racial, 1 percent Hispanic, 1 percent Asian and a little more than half economically disadvantaged.
The board has five members who serve four-year terms.
